Nancy E. Barron, 81, of La Porte City, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the La Porte City Specialty Care Nursing Home. She was born August 3, 1945, in Springfield, IL, daughter of James Thomas and Thelma May (Carter) Hurley. She attended Waterloo West High School.

She married Larry Barron in Wichita, KS. They later divorced. Nancy worked as a store manager at the Dell Oil Company in Waterloo on 18th St. for 6 years.

Nancy is survived by her children, Rodney (Donna) Barron of Andover, MN, Randy Barron of Fort Dodge, and Carrie (Robert) Fleming of Evansdale; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Nicole (Dustin), Nicholas, Breanna, and Brandon (Jenni); three great-grandchildren and one on the way. Two sisters, Mary Pershing and Karla Ann (Dennis) Lucas; brother, Kevin Hendricker; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jim and Douglas Hurley; and a sister, Kathy Hendricker.
