Mitan S. Arya, 91, of Cedar Falls, previously of Belgium, WI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Mitan was preceded in death by his four brothers, a sister, and a grandson.

Mitan, the youngest child of Pothiram and Bibirani, was born on July 20, 1930 in Jirolia, Budaun, India. Mitan immigrated to the United States in 1965 to obtain his PhD and for his future. Two years later he immigrated his wife and children to the U.S. Mitan worked as a Fermentation Microbiologist/Biotechnologist until 2014.

Mitan is survived by his wife Gayatri and children Bhaskar (Sarina) of San Antonio, TX, Rasmi (Rajendra) of Cedar Falls, and Prabhakar of Falls Church, VA; six grandchildren, Anita, Devan, Nina, Ajay, Amul, Anuj; and one great granddaughter, Nitya.

Mitan enjoyed reading, teaching, and spending time with his family and friends.

A private ceremony was held on March 5, 2022 at the Locke at Tower Park Crematory.
