Michael Dean Moore

Michael “Mike” Dean Moore, 77, of Waterloo, passed away on August 2, 2025. He was born on December 29, 1947, to Clyde and Gladys Moore and spent his life in the Waterloo community, where he attended school, had a family and built a successful business. Mike was the proud owner of Mike Moore Painting and Decorating, known for transforming homes, businesses, and stadiums across the region with his skill and creativity.

Mike was a man of sharp intellect and quiet wisdom. He had a gift for conversation-charming, curious, and genuinely interested in others. He enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and watching or talking about sports. Thoughtful and intuitive, he valued connection and approached life and relationships with openness and heart. His presence, his warmth, and his love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mike is survived by his children, Montavis Moore of Waterloo, Dr. Shalia Moore-Hayes (Janssen Hayes) of Parrish, FL, and Mario Moore of Waterloo; their mother, Tawanna Moore of Waterloo, who remained a kind and supportive presence in his life; his brothers, Tim (Nita) Moore Sr of Atlanta, GA, Keith Moore of Waterloo, and Dennis (Dell) Moore of Chesterfield, VA; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Clydeen Douglas, Clyde Moore Jr., and Terry Moore; and several other beloved relatives and close friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo with burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
