Maxine M. Alcott, 85, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at NorthCrest Specialty Care with services from UnityPoint Hospice.

She was born December 14, 1937 in Waterloo, the daughter of Charles "Carl" and Alice (Gardner) Neuenkirk. She grew up on a farm in Elk Run Heights.

She married Leonard Long and they later divorced. She then married Larry Alcott on August 6, 1978 in Evansdale; he preceded her in death on September 11, 2007.

Maxine held various jobs over the years, working at the box factory, the Ellis Hotel and retiring from the Black Hawk County Courthouse in 1991. She was also a childcare provider for many years.

Maxine had been a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Elk Run Heights. She enjoyed cooking, playing games and cards. Her life was centered around family, friends and the church. She loved to entertain and fill her home with love and laughter.

Maxine is survived by her sister, Carleen Galloway of Waterloo; two daughters, Cathy (Derek) Krebs of Nevada and Carla Klobnak of Des Moines; son, Ricky (Jenny) Reynolds of State Center; two additional daughters; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Imogene Parks; and siblings, Phil "Fred" Parks, Franklin Parks, Tom Parks, Jack Neuenkirk, Dick Neuenkirk, Geraldine Swaim, and Barbara Gaede.
