Mary Jo Jordan, 89, of Waterloo, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Wellspring Living Health Center of Friendship Village under Cedar Valley Hospice.

Mary Jo was born on October 10, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, to Wesley Kenneth and Beulah Pearl (Kimbley) Peverill. She attended Waterloo West High School. On August 17, 1953, she married Wesley Gene Jordan, who preceded her in death on October 21, 1972. In 1976, she married G. James Wheeler; they later divorced.

While raising her children, Mary Jo devoted herself to caring for her family. After they were grown, she co-owned Wheeler Auto for 15 years. She later went on to work as a secretary for her son, Scott, at Scott’s Electric until retiring in 2003.

Mary Jo was a member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, where she served on the Church Council and Altar Guild and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Cedar Valley Sertoma Club.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Sandra Eide, Betty Harvey, Beverly Schaffer, brother, Douglas Peverill, and daughter, Rebecca Jordan.

Mary Jo is survived by her children, Steve Jordan of Cedar Falls, Cindy (Craig) Wells, Scott Jordan, and Tim Jordan, all of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Locke on 4th, 1519 W. 4th St., Waterloo.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, 1122 W 11th St, Waterloo. Burial to follow at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
