Mary C. Penry, 88, formerly of Evansdale, died Friday, August 26, 2016 at ManorCare Health Services.

She was born January 18, 1928 in Jesup the daughter of Harry and Mary (Anderson) Lies.

She married Joe Penry on February 8, 1945 in Waterloo; he preceded her in death in February of 1971.

Mary worked as an Inspector for Chamberlin Manufacturing retiring after 31 years.

Survived by: a twin brother, Ray (Betty) Lies of Cedaredge, Colorado; a daughter, Michele “Mickey” (James) Heronimus of Waterloo; a son-in-law, Jerry Thompson of Washburn; three grandchildren, Troy Thompson of Waterloo, Jodi (Shawn) McGrane of Dumont, Timothy Heronimus of Waterloo; six great grandchildren, Brandon (Heather) Thompson, Brittanie Thompson, Brooke Thompson all of Waterloo, Randi Fritze of Minneapolis, MN, Kyle McGrane of Dumont, Kurtis (Alicia) McGrane of Waterloo; five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; one daughter, Joan Thompson; one grandson, Brice Thompson; four brothers, Donald, Richard, Louie and Robert Lies and three sisters, Lucille Schnell, Patricia Lies and Emily Hildebrand.
