Mary A. Russell, 94, of the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, died at her home on Saturday, December 26, 2009.

Mary was born June 16, 1915 in Havana, Cuba, the daughter of Eduardo and Natalia Torres Romero. Mary graduated from Key West High School. She worked in Cuba for a few years after marrying and then in the Clerk of Courts Office at the County Court House in Key West, Florida.

Mary married Raymond G. Russell on April 30, 1938 in Havana, Cuba. He died May 2, 1991. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing.

Mary, known as “Nana” by her family, is survived by her daughter: Dee (John) Kressin of Waterloo, two sons: Ray Russell of Inverness, Florida and Joe Russell of Miami, Florida, nine grandchildren: Kevin Russell, Kim (Dale) Wetmoore and Chris Russell; Joe (Andrea), Dave (Debbie) and Scott (Heather) Mora; John Kressin Jr.; Joey Russell; Selina (Johnny) Ortiz and 14 great-grandchildren: Cole, Dalton, Courtnie, Shane, Seth, Ricky, J.J., Javani, Brett, Tyler and Hope Marie, Bradly, Chad, and Nicole; and her brother Emilio Romero of Laurel, Maryland.

She is preceded in death by her sister Rose Alfaro.
