Mary Alice Holman

Mary A. Holman, 79, of Waterloo, died on Friday, September 23, 2022, at her home.

Mary was born on November 28, 1942, in Allamakee County, the daughter of Lloyd and LaVanda Suckow Thornton and graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1961.

She married David Holman on July 5, 1990, in Black Hawk County.

She worked in Janitorial at John Deere for 11 years.

Mary enjoyed shopping, collecting M&M memorabilia, spoiling her grandsons, making pies, camping and fishing with her family.

Mary is survived by her husband, David; sons, Mark Simmons and Don (Brenda) Simmons; grandsons, Christofer and Jake and Jaxon Simmons; brother, Earl (Betty) Thornton; sister, Joann (Jim) Jordan, all of Waterloo; sister, Norma (Gary) Westcott and brother, Donald Thornton, both of Evansdale; sister, Delores Peverill of Denver, CO; sister, Lois (Willis) Ott of Elkader; and sister, Karen (James) Wygle of Waterloo.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sandra Kay Thornton; and her sons' father, Donald Simmons.

There will be a private family Celebration of Life at a later date.
