Marlene Y. Terhune, 86, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died at Allen Memorial Hospital on Friday, October 16, 2009, of complications of heart disease.

Marlene Yvonne Kruse was born January 24, 1923 in Independence, Iowa, daughter of Irvin G. and Alice Trebon Kruse.

Marlene married Delmar “Del” Terhune on June 6, 1943 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miami, Florida; he died August 5, 2003.

She graduated from Independence High School and Gates Business School. Marlene has worked in Admissions at Covenant Medical Center; Santa Claus Assoc. Clerk; and also owned and operated the Pine Tree Motel. She was a member of Trinity American Lutheran Church; Red Hat Society; and Hotel-Motel Association.

Marlene is survived by her daughter LaDel Hoyle of West Des Moines, daughter Kathy (Tom) McGowan of Raymond, son Mark Terhune of Windsor Heights, daughter Tana Allsup of Waterloo, and daughter Janelle Ahrens of Iowa City. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: T.J. (Lisa) McGowan, Nicole McGowan, Eric Allsup, Mark (Dawn) Terhune, Lacey (Josh) Wright, Luke Terhune, Andrew Ahrens, and Lindy Ahrens and Four great grandchildren: Terril Ross, Adonis McGowan Mersadies McGowan and Majestic Terhune.

She is preceded in death by her husband and sister Norma Budke.
