Marki Stamatiades

August 22, 1949 October 28, 2025

Marki Gail Stamatiades, 76, passed away at her home in Cedar Falls on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Marki’s gentle spirit and unwavering kindness touched everyone lucky enough to know her.

Born in Cairo, Illinois, on August 22, 1949, to Delmar L. and Dorothy Jean (Brazel) Williams, Marki grew up with a heart full of compassion and a mind eager to learn. She graduated from West High School in 1967 and later earned her degree in business management from Upper Iowa University. On December 12, 1970, she married the love of her life, Samuel Stamatiades, in Grundy Center-together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and family until his passing in 2003.

Marki dedicated over 25 years to healthcare, serving in patient financial services across various hospital organizations. Her career culminated as Director of Patient Financial Services, where her leadership and empathy made a lasting impact. She was a proud member of the Iowa Hawkeye Chapter of the American Association of Healthcare Administration Management.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Rickey and Kent Williams, daughter, Pam Stamatiades, and her great-grandson, Kaidan Kane Jay Burens.

Marki’s greatest joy came from her family and she is survived by her children, Sami (Chad Kacher) Stamatiades of Waterloo, Todd (Julie Schwebach) Stamatiades of La Porte City, and Jeff Stamatiades of Waterloo; her beloved grandchildren, Jordan, Alexis, Ashtyn, Breez, Payton, Gracie, and Nick; along with many great-grandchildren who she adored beyond measure; her siblings, Becki Williams and Randall (Rich Goodwin) Williams both of Cedar Falls, Kelli (Jeff) Schulz and Wendi Williams, both of West Des Moines, IA; sisters-in-law, Melissa Williams of Phoenix, AZ, and Adam (Tracy) Williams of Galveston, TX; she also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

Her family invites all who knew her to celebrate her life with joy, remembering the kindness she gave so freely and the love she shared so deeply.
