Marjorie F. “Marge” Faye Moore

Marjorie F. “Marge” Moore, 95, died on May 29, 2025, at the La Porte City Specialty Care. She was born on December 15, 1929, in Waterloo, daughter of Albert and Norma (Hunter) Palmer. She graduated in 1947 from La Porte City High School.

She married William “Glenn” Moore on November 11, 1950, at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City; he preceded her in death on October 11, 2024.

Marge was a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She also worked as a Secretary for La Porte City Elementary School and as a bookkeeper for Mid-Iowa Cooperative in La Porte City from 1967-1975.

She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church where she served on various committees and circles. Marge loved to play cards and belonged to Highland Club, 1-4 Card Club and Marathon 500 club. She was a volunteer at La Porte City Community Center, where she helped with TeleCare, and also at the La Porte City Specialty Care. She enjoyed knitting, doing various crafts, and caring for her plants and flowers, especially her orchids.

She is survived by her children: Brad Moore of La Porte City, Sherry (Gary) Sheffler of La Porte City, and Terry (Paul) Estep of Duluth, MN; five grandchildren, Shawn (Amanda) Sheffler, Josh (Erin) Sheffler, Lindsay (Tony) Nagel, Lauren (Mark Bellich) Estep, Matt (Anna) Estep; ten great grandchildren; sister, Mary Harting of La Porte City; and brother, Bill (Linda) Palmer of La Porte City.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Glenn.

Celebration of Life Gathering for Marge will be Saturday, June 21st from 11:00 – 1:00 pm in Fellowship Hall at St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City. Family graveside services will precede the services at 10:00 am at the Westview Cemetery.
