Lorraine M. Marie Hovey

Lorraine M. Hovey, 94, of Evansdale, died on Friday, December 15, 2023, at her home.

She was born May 5, 1929, in Masonville, IA, daughter of John McNamara and Helen Margaret Henry. She graduated from Lamont High School. Lorraine married Louis C. Hovey on May 24, 1947, in Maquoketa. He died on Monday, June 18, 2007.

She worked as a Custodian for almost 30 years at the Waterloo Community Schools retiring in 1991.

She is survived by her three sons, Lou (Deb) of Waterloo, Walt (Jackie) of Evansdale, and Craig (Terri) of Raymond; three daughters, Connie (Chuck) Shover of Waverly, Carmen (John D.) Nenow of Waterloo, and Lorene (Dan) Serbousek of Atkins; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; one sister, JoAnn Zeman of Monticello; brothers, Leo (Karen) Loughren of Cedar Rapids, and Dick Elliott of Harpers Ferry; and brothers-in-law, Dick Smith of Marion and Tom Wendel of Cedar Rapids.

She is preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Thomas Loughren, and John Loughren; and two sisters, Margaret "Peg" Smith and Patricia Wendel.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo, with burial in the Waterloo Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Locke at Tower Park 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo.
