Loretta M. Diehl, 92, of Waterloo, died at UPH Allen Hospital on June 16, 2026. She was born October 26, 1933, in Gilbertville, daughter of Francis M. Delagardelle and Irene Stewart. She graduated from the Sacred Heart High School in 1951.

Loretta married William K. “Bill” Diehl on April 17, 1951, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waterloo. Bill passed away October 24, 2020. She worked for JC Penny for a few years and then was a receptionist for Dr. Frost and Landau.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Loretta is survived by her five daughters, Michele (Larry) Skartvedt of Madison, WI, Kathy “Kate” Masters of San Diego, CA, Julie Diehl of Waterloo, Denise (Greg) Lough of Cedar Falls, Cheryl (Mike) Dodock of Waterloo; son, Brian (Robbi) Diehl of Las Vegas; thirteen grandchildren, Brooke Guven, Amy Glad, Mandy Skartvedt, Ryan Masters, Rhaea Baity, Daniel (Kari) Winder, Joseph Winder, Haley Natvig, Nicole (Gaylon) Bellew, Brianna Lough, Joshua Diehl and Michaela Diehl; eighteen great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy Siemens of St. Joseph, MO; and the Kitty, ruler of the palace.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill; grandson “Jake” Winder; grandson in law, Brian Glad; and her brother, Richard Delagardelle.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time and funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 22, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park with burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are directed to the Unity Point Allen Hospice.
