Lois Grace Osness, (101), died Sunday, November 12, 2023. She was born August 29, 1922, in Waterloo, Iowa to Bessie (Bess) Ruth (Holtman) Boller and Raymond Earl Boller. Lois graduated from West High School in Waterloo in 1940. After high school she worked at the Chamberlain Credit Union in Waterloo where she met John M. Osness. They married in 1947 and were married for 51 years. John died in 1999.

Vacationing at 10 Mile Lake in Minnesota was one of their very favorite things to do. In her lifetime, Lois donated several gallons of blood to the Red Cross. Lois was a master quilter and loved wildflowers and birds. And her love of reading was instilled in all her children.

Survived by: her three children – Nick (Maura) Osness of Ames, Randi (Bob) May of Jesup, and April Osness of Waterloo; six grandchildren: Carrie May of Mooresville, NC; Amanda (Marcelo) Aruani of Iowa City; Michael May; Maggie (Jon) Hoffa of Frisco, Texas; Ben (Rachel) Noland of Ames; and Meira Osness of Ames; and nine great-grandchildren: Dylan, Carson, Ruth, Emma, Abraham, Henry, Luciana, Juliet, and Marley.

Preceded in Death by her parents, her husband, John, and all of her siblings: two sisters (Dorothy Brumble and Ruth Jay), and three brothers (Richard, Paul and Lee (infant) Boller).

Services: Friday November 17 at 11:30 AM, with visitation one hour prior, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Waterloo, A private family burial service will be held in the Garden of Memories Cemetery prior to the church service.

Memorials in lieu of flowers: may be directed to Ascension Lutheran Church, Cedar Bend Humane Society, C & W Rustic Hollow Shelter for cats in Nashua, Iowa or The Nature Conservancy.
