Lila M. Anton, 95, of Friendship Village, died at Covenant Medical Center on Thursday, June 12, 2008, of a stroke.

She was born November 10, 1912, in Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of Herschel and Atta Lee (Pringle) Harreld.

Lila married Myron Anton on June 17, 1939, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua; he died July 3, 2000.

She graduated from Batavia High School in 1932 and then earned her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in 1932.

Lila taught public school for seven years in Janesville and later in a rural country school in Black Hawk County.

She belonged to First United Methodist Church, was a member of PEO, Child Study Club, Golden Apples, TTT Club and participated in a Pen Pal Program.

Lila is survived by son Nick and his wife Marcia of Santa Rosa, California, daughter Jane Anton and her partner Pam Schnebelen of St. Louis, Missouri, granddaughter Christen Peters and her husband Rick of Olympia, Washington, grandson William Anton and his wife Meredith of West Dover, Vermont, and granddaughter Amy Anton and her husband Todd Johnson of San Francisco, California, and five great grandchildren: Molly, Adam, Lucy, Colette and Miles.

She is preceded in death by her husband and two sisters: Alma Throckmorton and Leta Lynch.
