Lenora Decker, 98, of Waterloo, died Monday, September 28, 2026, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

She was born on April 30, 1928, in rural Hardin County, the daughter of Jay and Bena (Stickfort) deNeui.

Lenora attended Hardin County Country School until 6th grade, then Cedar Falls Country School, graduating from Cedar Falls Teachers College High School in 1945.

She married Donald W. Decker on March 15, 1947, in Cedar Falls; he preceded her in death on September 28, 2012.

Lenora was a floral designer at Bancroft’s and Rainbow Florists for over 20 years. Prior to being a floral designer, she was a secretary at Viking Pump, Cedar Falls Trust & Savings Bank, and the UNI Art Dept. While Don was in the service, she worked civil service jobs in Virginia and Rhode Island. She later worked as a receptionist at Cedar Falls Medical Associates. She continued to design floral arrangements for fun, including for many church gatherings and holidays.

She was a member of Living Hope Baptist Church (formerly Walnut Ridge). Lenora and Don raised four children, Darrell, Steve, Suzanne, and Jeffrey. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and walking trails with her family. Above all, she trusted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior.

Lenora is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Pam) Decker of Monroe, LA; a sister, Joan (Duane) Wessels of Waterloo; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her Goddaughter and caregiver, Kayleen Young of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; two sons, Darrell, and Steve Decker; a daughter, Suzanne Jeanette Harned; a son-in-law, Richard Harned; two sisters, Elma Ballhagen, and Pauline Van Mill; and a special friend, Merlin Harbaugh.

Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Locke on 4th, 1519 West 4th Street, Waterloo, with a prayer service at 12:40 p.m. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the Friendship Village Foundation.
