Larry Joe O’Connell, 64, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at his home, of natural causes.

He was born on October 5, 1955, in Waterloo, son of Kenneth and Bertha Uhlenberg O’Connell, and graduated from East High School.

Larry had worked at U Need A Car Wash for many years; then at Zeidler’s Concrete for over 23 years; and most recently for Metal Control Systems as a loading dock superintendent.

Larry was a hard worker and liked to be busy. He enjoyed spending time with family and loved to go fishing.

He is survived by his sister, Tammy (Stan) Halvorson of Evansdale; brother, Randy O’Connell of Gladbrook; sister, Shirley (John) Lambertson of Iowa Falls; brother, Harvey (Debbie) O’Connell of Waterloo; friends Darrin and Tony Hernandez; many nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of friends.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Tom and Al O’Connell and Jim Dirkes and sister-in-law, Sandy Dirkes.
