Kenn M. Koontz, age 75, died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born December 2, 1938 in Waterloo, the son of Charles W. and Hazel M. (Kahn) Koontz. Kenn graduated from Waterloo East High School with the Class of 1957. He was united in marriage with Carol Engelkes in May 1965. They were later divorced. Kenn married Shirley A Grimm on October 12, 1985 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1993.

Kenn worked for John Deere & Co. primarily in the office services department and retired from the purchasing department on May 30, 1986 after 27 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Kenn was a member of Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed duck hunting.

Survivors include 2 brothers, Charles (Jeanne) Koontz of Waterloo and John (Melody Brindle) Koontz of Cedar Falls; 2 nieces, Dianne and Allison and 3 nephews, Dave, Darin and Jay, and a special friend, Marlys Erickson of Lee’s Summit, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
