Karen Kay Burns, 69, of Cedar Falls, died at St. Mary’s hospital in Rochester, Minnesota on Thursday, December 19 ,2013 of natural causes.

She was born December 2, 1944 in Waterloo, the daughter of Cecil and Nadine (Perry) Miller. Karen graduated from the physical therapy assistant program at Hawkeye Institute Technology.

Karen married Monte Burns on November 11, 1974 in Waterloo. She worked at Country View as a physical therapy assistant until her retirement.

She is survived by her husband Monte; 2 daughters, Kathy Brown of Waterloo, and Heather Taylor of Parkersburg, Ia; 1 son Matthew (Amanda) Burns of Waterloo; 3 grandchildren Elizabeth, Trevon and Mason; 3 Brothers, Cecil Miller of Michigan, Errol Miller of Florida and Terry (Patty) Miller of Nebraska; 5 sisters, Penny Miller-Hardiman of Kansas, Jeannie (Pete) Fraunkron of Waterloo, Gloria (Doug) Fowlkes of Evansdale, Kathy Kleeman of Kansas, and Jan (Dan) Gable of Illinois.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; 1 infant son, Larry; 1 sister, Elaine Byrne; and 1 brother Larry Miller.
