Joyce Eloral Freshwater, 84, of Waterloo, IA and Rochester, MN, died Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Martin Health Center of Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls.

She was born August 23, 1936, in Waterloo, daughter of Lyle and Viola Loy Walensky. Joyce graduated in 1954 from Barron High School, Barron, WI. She married Earl E. Freshwater February 17, 1956, in Waterloo; he died December 4, 2012.

Joyce worked in the office at Borden’s Soy Processing in Waterloo, managed Waterloo Airport’s Convair Room, was office manager for Lohnes Photography in Waterloo, and then Elle’s Color Portraits in Rochester, retiring in 2005. However, Joyce felt being a mother was her most important job. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and especially traveling with Earl in their motorhome across the USA.

Joyce is survived by her 5 children: Jeff (Tina) Freshwater of Hudson’ Marty (Liz) Freshwater of Waterloo’ Kim (Mark) Aarsvold of Polk City, Lori Moeller of Waterloo, and Rick (Dawn) Freshwater of Rochester; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren: Katlyn Freshwater, Ben (Kenzie) Freshwater and his 2 children, Karsyn and Bennett, Elliott (Amela) Moeller, Marcus Aarsvold, Spencer Moeller, Luke Freshwater, Sydni Moeller, Owen Freshwater, Faith Freshwater, and Mallorie Freshwater; 2 step-grandchildren, Justin and Jill Aarsvold; a sister, Bette Rae Laird of Ocala’ FL; and 2 brothers, Ted (Laurie) Matthys of Chetek‘ WI and Joe (Ingrid) Heinen of Waterloo.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Greg Freshwater; an infant sister, Jesse Nora Stewart; and a brother Russ Matthys.
