Joseph Harold Martin

Joseph “Joe” H. Martin, 78, of Lansing, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, January 25, 2021, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

He was born on July 29, 1942, in Waterloo, the son of Harold and Harriett (Clarke) Martin. He graduated from West High School in 1960, and then served in the United States Army during Vietnam.

Joe married Teri Smith in 1987 in East Moline, Illinois. He worked at John Deere for 33-1/2 years with the last 17 years as a Committee Man for the UAW Local 838. He was active in the UAW and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19.

Joe enjoyed waterfowl hunting, fishing, and watching sports. He had a permanent blind in Shell Rock dubbed the Hilton. His Taj-Mahal had all of the amenities for a comfortable hunt. Joe liked to eat and to talk and visit with people. He loved spending time with his family especially his granddaughters and grandson. He was a Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed going to hockey games.

He is survived by his wife, Teri of Lansing; three sons, Bill (Amy) Martin of Lansing, Bob Martin of Waterloo‚ and Jonathan (Deanna) Martin of Nashua; and four grandchildren, Morgan, Chloe, Abbey, and Gunner Martin.

Preceding Joe in death were a granddaughter, Hayley Martin; a sister, Sallie Back; a brother, John Martin; and his parents.
