Jon Alan Fischer, 62, of Hudson, formerly of Dike, and Waterloo, died at Covenant Medical Center Monday, March 12, 2018. He was born on December 30, 1955 in Grundy Center, to Cornelius and Wanda Waddingham Fischer and graduated from Dike High School in 1974.
He married Kay Neuhalfen Johnston on November 16, 2010.
Jon worked at Immings Standard Service in Dike, Martin Brothers Distributing in Cedar Falls, then at Sam Annis & Co. in Waterloo for a short time until opening Flip’s West Side Tap in Dike from 1987 to 1998. Most recently, he was employed with Bertch Cabinets until his death.
Jon volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Northeast Iowa Food Bank and was active with Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed NASCAR and socializing with friends.
Survivors include: his wife, Kay; step son, Kris Johnston, Cedar Falls, a step daughter, Betsy Johnston, Connecticut; 3 step grandchildren: Luke Johnston, Tiffany (Ryan) Snyder and Crystal Johnston; 2 step-great granddaughters: Alexandria Johnston and Reegan Snyder; a sister, Jane (Tom) Shea, Waterloo; 5 sisters-in-law: Betty Fischer, Dike, Kathy Boyes, Lincoln, NE, Diane (Vance) Sebbert, Sandy (Denny) Daly, and Marcia (Denny) Dreesman; 2 brothers-in-law: Kurt Kelley, Dike and Bruce Goldenstein, Florence, CO; 2 nephews: David (Marion) Kelley and Kurt (Dori) Kelley; 7 nieces: Dawn (Sheldon Levin) Kelley, Jenette (Wayne) Maas, Susan Canale, Jodie Donovan, Terri (Steve Ropp) Norton, Tyllie (Dan) Corbin and Kim (Joe) Bahr; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceded by: his parents; 2 brothers, Neal and Gene; 3 sisters: Carol Kelley, Mary Goldenstein and Pamela Fischer; and a nephew Eric Fischer.
