John McCroy, 80, of Waterloo, died unexpectedly Friday, March 11, of natural causes. He was born February 2, 1942, in Missouri, where he graduated High School and then enlisted in the United States Air Force.
John married Amy (Irish) McCroy in 1985, in Waterloo. He worked as a master plumber and commercial electrician. He also had various other jobs throughout his life; including owning a grocery store in Lamar, being Deputy Sherriff in Independence, working at Collins Aerospace, maintenance supervisor at Tysons, and the job he enjoyed the most: maintenance supervisor at Chamberlains. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and watching golf, and especially liked receiving frequent pictures of his grandchildren, and notes from his children.
He is survived by his wife, Amy; two daughters, Molly Farmer' and Heather (Ono) Conley' of Gila Bend' AZ; and a son, Mike McCroy' of Gila Bend' AZ; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son-in-law, Lynn Farmer.
A memorial service will take place at a later date.
