John D. Rollins, 72, of Waterloo, formerly of Ottumwa, died at Allen Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, August 7, 2007, of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

He was born on December 14, 1934, in Farmer City, Illinois, the son of David and Ruth Wey Rollins. He graduated from Ottumwa High School.

John married Nancy on December 17, 1955, in Ottumwa at the North Court Baptist Church. He worked in the Heat Treat Department at John Deere for 33 years, retiring in 1991.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Rollins of Waterloo, son Mark and his wife Cathy of Cedar Falls, three grandchildren: Carah Rollins of Waterloo and Ben and Josh Rollins, both of Cedar Falls, great-grandson Jack Rollins, brother Frank and his wife Celia of Springfield, Missouri, and two sisters: Elaine Brinegar and her husband Gary and Carol Sims and her husband Frank, all of Ottumwa.

John is preceded in death by his parents, sister Patti Simpson, and brother Bobby Rollins.
