John A. Kirschbaum, 86, of Waterloo, died at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, on Sunday December 22, 2013 of natural causes.

John Adrian Kirschbaum was born on November 26, 1927 in rural Clayton County, Iowa, son of Leo and Doris Schnack Kirschbaum.

He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1946.

John married Lillian Sindelar on September 25, 1947 in Waterloo. She died July 21, 2007.

He worked for Rath Meat Packing Company for 40 years until they closed. Later he worked at Steamboat Gardens for seven years, retiring in 1991.

John was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

He is survived by his son Steve (Teri) Kirschbaum of Cedar Falls; granddaughter Jennifer (Eric) Schoville of Cedar Falls; grandson Ben J. (Becky) Kirschbaum of Nevada, Iowa; and five great grandchildren: Amanda Clark, Lexi Clark Sage Hackbarth, Kirsten Kirschbaum and Carter Schoville.

He was preceded in death by his wife.
