Jim Harold Monnahan

Jimmy H. Monnahan, 55, of La Porte City, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Jim was born on August 23, 1969, in Iowa City, to Isaac J. “Buzz” and Donna M. (Harrington) Monnahan. He graduated from La Porte City High School in 1987, where he was proud to be a Ram!

Jim was a selfless friend to all who knew him. He never met a stranger as he will be fondly remembered for welcoming all who drove down his block with a big smile and wave. He cherished being a father to his daughter, Allie. Jim enjoyed watching the wildlife, feeding the birds and squirrels, and spoiling his cats. He enjoyed being outdoors and tending to his flowers in his front yard and preparing beautiful arrangements of his garden’s creations. In his younger years, Jim relished the time spent at his family’s cabin where he would often go hunting, fishing, boating, and having fish fry’s with his cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Allie Monnahan of La Porte City; his sister, Carrie (David) Dutler of La Porte City; niece and nephew, Wyatt and Laura Dutler, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation and Funeral Service: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Heartland Community Church, 705 Bishop Ave, La Porte City. Funeral Service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial to take place at West View Cemetery in La Porte City.
