Jerri Ann Iehl, 67 of Waterloo, died Sunday January 18, 2026, at Pinnacle Specialty Care, Cedar Falls. She was born November 9, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Donald and Louise M. (Michaelis) McIntosh. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1977 and later from the University of Northern Iowa with Bachelor Art’s Degree in Communication with a minor in Photography in 1998. While at UNI, she helped with the UNI Sports Information Newsletter.

She married Rex Curtis Iehl on April 1, 1978, at the First Baptist Church, Waterloo.

Jerri worked over the years, as the Britt News Tribune Editor, she worked as a writer for newspapers in Des Moines, Storm Lake, Oelwein, and the Cedar Valley Vikings Semi-Pro Football Team. She loved her Chicago Cubs and if you knew her, you understood this very clearly. She enjoyed playing board games and card games with her grandchildren. Outside of her work, she continued to write and published two books, “Windows to the soul” and “Zoography” and had more in the works.

She is survived by her husband, Rex Iehl of Waterloo; three children, Erica Iehl of Waterloo, Jeremy (Lindsey) Iehl of Cedar Rapids, and Ryan (Sara) Iehl of Waterloo; 15 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and one on the way; and sister, Jolene (Ken) Livingston of Agency, MO.

Jerri is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Makenzi Iehl, parents, two sisters, and a brother.

    Whenever we had the opportunity to spend time with aunt Jerri, she was always so kind and generous. Giving gifts she had spent time making, and sharing about her family and grandkids. We will miss her dearly.

    I hold such fond memories of Aunt Jerri. Some are simple things like shared meals, a game of cards, or conversing at her home and some were exceptional things such as getting to watch a Cubs game together, having Aunt Jerri shoot our wedding photos and video, and the time(s) she stayed overnight at the hospital with my grandmother. Aunt Jerri was a kind, warm, and patient soul who will be dearly missed.
