Jane Walden

Jane Walden, 85, of Friendship Village, died at Lakeview Landing of Friendship Village on Sunday, August 12, 2018.

Jane was born October 25, 1932, in Jonesboro, AR, daughter of James R. and Margaret V. Holmes. She married Robert F. Walden on December 30, 1954 at St. Edward Catholic Church. Bob died January 11, 2003.

She graduated from Waterloo West High School in the class of 1950 and received her B.A. in Commerce in 1954 from the University of Iowa. Jane worked with Bob in the family business, Walden Photos, retiring in 1995.

She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, Junior League, PEO Chapter IX, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, and a member of Greater Cedar Valley Chamber Diplomats. Jane was a hard worker and enjoyed volunteering. She and Bob loved to travel and loved history as evidenced by their many photos shared at Friendship Village and elsewhere. She also was an avid walker and enjoyed playing bridge.

Survivors include: daughter Sue (Rick) Jorgensen of Naperville, IL; daughter Kathy (Dr. Mark) Schreiner of Waterloo; son Michael (Michelle) Walden of Waterloo; 5 grandchildren: Robert (Megan) Jorgensen, Katherine Jorgensen, Daniel Jorgensen, Scott (Dr. Chelsey) Schreiner, and Elizabeth Schreiner; 4 bonus granddaughters: Chelsea (Mitchell) Sinnwell, Carissa Herkelman, Cassandra Herkelman, and Skye Goetsch; and 4 great grandsons: Colin Jorgensen, Patrick Jorgensen, Finn Schreiner, and Lars Schreiner; sister, Bobbie Cross of Birmingham, MI; sister-in-law, JoAnn (Otto) Miller of Janesville, IA; and sister-in-law, Anne Walden of Ames.

Preceded in death by: her parents; husband; son, Richard Walden; and sister, Kitty Bartlett.
