James H. “Jimmy” Hawk, age 33, of Waterloo, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at his father’s home in Waterloo.

He was born July 20, 1980 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of William C. Hawk and Bridie A. Gilbert. Jimmy graduated from Independence (IA) High School with the class of 1999.

Jimmy was formerly employed at Hy-Vee and Goodwill Industries. He enjoyed wrestling and spending time with his family, most of all his 3 nieces, Mauriela, Lucilla and Kathryn and his nephew Felipe.

Survivors include his father, William “Bill” Hawk of Waterloo; his mother and stepfather, Bridie (Tom) Uhlenhopp of Waterloo; his maternal grandmother, Gaila Gilbert of Sardinia, OH; 2 sisters, Gaila Hawk of Fountain Inn, SC and Bobbie (Ray) Zeferino of Shakopee, MN; a brother, Jonathan Hawk of Waterloo.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Marjorie Hawk and his maternal grandfather, Harvey Gilbert.
