James F. “Jim” Hunt, 83, of Waterloo, died at Allen Memorial Hospital on Sunday, October 14, 2007, of natural causes.

He was born January 16, 1924, in Waterloo, son of Harrison and Ethel Johnson Hunt.

Jim graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1942.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European African Middle Eastern Theater where he received the Purple Heart medal.

Jim married Marolyn J. Shiek on January 18, 1947, at the First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. She died November 4, 2006.

He was a machinist at Chamberlain Manufacturing Corporation for 40 years, retiring in 1985.

Jim is survived by sons Dennis and his wife Barb and David both of Waterloo, four grandchildren: Lynn, Joshua, Scott and Stacy, and two great-grandsons: Kyle and Cody. He is also survived by sisters Marjorie Hunting of Cedar Falls and Mary Hostetler of Waterloo.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
