Helen Luttabelle Lichty

Helen L. Lichty, 95, of Parkview Gardens Nursing & Rehab Center, died there Saturday, November 7, 2009.

She was born on November 16, 1913 in Waterloo, daughter of Clarence H. and Erma Tompkins Lubbs.

Helen married Olin Lichty on January 23, 1948 in Waterloo. He died February 2, 1978.

She and her brother owned and operated Home Bakery in downtown Waterloo for 20 years. Helen was a member of Hammond Avenue Brethren Church. She was a real go-getter. She loved people and running the bakery with her brother and all of the interaction that allowed her. She enjoyed spending summers at her cabin in Minnesota, and loved to fish.

Helen is survived by many cousins. She is preceded in death by her son in infancy, brother John “Bud” Lubbs, stepsons: Olin Lichty Jr. and Richard Lichty, and step grandson Richard Lichty, Jr.
