Hazel F. Lyshik, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died at her granddaughter’s home in Council Bluffs on Thursday, January 11, 2007, of natural causes.
She was born February 19, 1919, in Marshall County, Iowa, the daughter of William and Clara Belle Cheville Alexander.
Hazel worked for the Cedar Rapids Post Office for six years, retiring in 1974.
She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
Hazel is survived by daughter Pauline J. Kearney of Grant, Iowa; grandson James C. Kearney, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Emerson, Iowa; granddaughter Kelly Rigali and her husband Rick of Nashville, Tennessee; granddaughter Christine Lafinhan of Council Bluffs, Iowa; grandson Sean Kearney of Waterloo, Iowa; granddaughter Tara Lea Peek and her husband Perry of Milton, Florida; three great-granddaughters: Katrina Peek, Caroline Baze, and Melinda Pease; two great-grandsons: Jeremy Kearney and Brandon Kearney; and great-great-grandson Thomas Pease. She is also survived by sister Johanna Sirles and her husband Dan of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law Ida Lyshik of Waterloo, Iowa, and longtime friends Eddy and Darlene Moore of Waterloo, Iowa.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Katrina Kearney, grandson Peter Kearney, great-grandson James C. Kearney III, brother Ralph Alexander, two infant sisters, four infant brothers, and son-in-law James C. Kearney, Sr.
