Harry Vernon Lichty

Harry V. Lichty, 98, of Friendship Village Retirement Center in Waterloo, Iowa, died there Thursday, August 21, 2014.

Harry Vernon Lichty was born February 2, 1916, in Black Hawk County, son of Harve and Della Wagoner Lichty.

He married Frances Alpha McMickle on April 18, 1936, in Carthage, Illinois; she died October 21, 2006.

Harry farmed in Eagle Township until 1968 and also worked at John Deere Waterloo Works for 26 years, retiring as an inspector in 1976. He was a member of South Waterloo Church of the Brethren and was a former member and board member of Isaac Walton League.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth and his wife JoAnn of Waterloo; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Garold, Buel “Bud” and Lynn; two sisters, Melva in infancy and Marie Miller; granddaughter, Wendy Ann Lichty; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Lichty.
