Gla Meyer, 96, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, July 20, 2026, at Martin Health Center of Western Home Communities. She was born February 14, 1930, in Waterloo, daughter of Leonard and Alice (Clifford) Wolf.

Gla married Ray ‘Gene’ Corchran on June 12, 1949, she then married Donald Cheeney on April 20, 1959. Both died in work related accidents. She married Wayne Meyer on June 8, 1967, he preceded her in death on April 6, 2008.

Gla was a joyful, dedicated homemaker and loving mother. She and Wayne spent summers at “Bass Camp” in Minnesota and winters Harlingen, Texas. After Wayne retired, they moved to Flippin, AR to avoid snow but remain close enough to make countless trips to visit her kids and grandkids. Together they moved to the Western Home in 2004.

She was an accomplished seamstress, crocheter, and crafter who enjoyed creating handmade treasures for others. She adored pets and in her younger years showed Basenji dogs. She had a collection of hummingbird keepsakes, and in her later years enjoyed the companionship at Windcove, looking forward to card games and meals with friends.

Gla is survived by her son Donald Lee Cheeney II (Rachel) of Cedar Falls, stepdaughters Judy Burger and Janet Meyer’ and stepson, Jerry Meyer all of Waterloo, sister, Dixie Swingle of Riverton, WY, grandchildren Chelsea (Galen) Crippen, and Madeline (Mikia) McGarvey, great-grandchildren Hendrix and Maeve Crippen, and Iris and Thea McGarvey, and numerous step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Wayne Meyer, Donald Cheeney, and Gene Corchran, stepdaughter Sue Meyer, stepson-in-law Robert ‘Bob’ Burger, sisters Joan (Norman) Morelock and Joyce (Hal) O’Brien and brother, Clifford Wolf.

No services will be held at this time. Interment will take place at a later date in Worland, Wy.
