Gerald “Pete” Petersen, 69, of Denver, Iowa, died at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics on Sunday, February 28, 2010, from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Gerald William Petersen was born August 1, 1940 in Iowa City, son of Donald and Mary Olds Petersen.

Pete married Jeanie Long on November 26, 1960 at the First Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

He graduated from the machinist’s program at Hawkeye Community College in 1966 and was a machinist on different production lines over the years at John Deere, retiring in 2003. Pete was a member of the Stardusters Square Dance Club (Denver).

Pete is survived by his wife Jeanie, daughter Lori Stoler of Waterloo, son Rory Petersen of Marshalltown, daughter Debby Silber and her husband Cory of Galesburg, Illinois, daughter Dawn Albertson of Marshalltown, daughter Missy Petersen of Denver, and 13 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.
