George “Fred” Frederick White, Jr. Jr.

July 23, 1939 August 26, 2025

George Frederick White Jr., lovingly known as Fred, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. at the age of 86, due to congestive heart failure.

Fred was born on July 23, 1939, in San Diego, California, to George and Edna White. He grew up as an only child, surrounded by a loving family, and later graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts.

He began his career teaching Industrial Arts at Mar Vista Junior High in Imperial Beach. Later, he owned and operated a Chevron gas station for ten years, but his lifelong passion was construction. Fred worked as a general contractor for many years, building custom homes, remodeling projects, and even helping design and construct his family’s home church in Bonita, California.

Beyond his professional life, George was known for his adventurous spirit and love of sports. His greatest passion was stock car racing-he built and owned his own stock car and rarely missed a NASCAR race. He enjoyed camping in all its forms, whether boating at the lake, riding his custom-built dune buggy across the sand dunes, or taking trips with three-wheelers in tow. George also had a gift for working with his hands, whether it was tending to his roses in the yard, building something new, or tinkering on projects that reflected his creativity and craftsmanship.

George shared 62 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Wanda White. Together, they raised two children, Julene Renee and Darrell White, and lovingly helped raise his nephew, Jerry Ihrig. Family was at the center of Fred’s life, and he found great joy in being a husband, father, uncle, and grandfather.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna White; brother-in-law, Wayne Ihrig; and sister-in-law, Hazel McCormick. He is survived by his devoted wife Wanda; daughter, Julene Renee; son, Darrell White (Kathy); and grandchildren, Zoe Renee, Xander Lucero, Judson White, Trevor White, Ruthie White, and Elijah White. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Patricia Hiett; nephew, Jerry Ihrig (Allison); and great-nieces, Paige Morisak (Cameron) and Erin Ihrig.

A memorial service celebrating George’s life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Hammond Avenue Brethren Church. A light lunch will follow in the fellowship hall. A private graveside service will take place at a later date.

George will be remembered for his hardworking hands, adventurous heart, and deep love for his family. His legacy of faith, devotion, and craftsmanship will live on through the many lives he touched.
