Genevieve Forsyth, 93, of Waterloo, died at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center on Thursday, December 21, 2006. She was born August 29, 1913, in Jesup, the daughter of Fred and Edna Fox Comfort.

She graduated from Jesup High School in 1931.

Genevieve married M. Harley Forsyth on November 7, 1931, in East Dubuque, Illinois. He died July 24, 1971.

She worked in the hosiery department at Black’s Department Store for 24 years, retiring in 1978.

For many years, Genevieve and her family would stay at Bowers Pleasant Lake Resort in Hackensack, Minnesota, where she enjoyed fishing and bird watching. She was also a fan of basketball and baseball.

She is survived by son Larry Forsyth of Waterloo, two daughters-in-law: Norma Forsyth and Marlene Forsyth both of Waterloo, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and one great-great-grandchild due in January.

Genevieve is preceded in death by her husband, sons Richard Forsyth and Fred Forsyth, daughter-in-law Carolyn Forsyth, and sisters Ruth Hardy and Mary Madsen.
