August 10, 1921 August 29, 2023

Everett S. Minard, 102, of Waterloo, passed away on Tuesday, August 29th at Friendship Village Wellspring Living, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice.

He was born on August 10, 1921, in Waterloo, Iowa, to his parents Carl and Sophia (Kehohn) Minard. Born and raised in Waterloo, he attended school there, and was an important provider for his family. In August of 1942, he enlisted in the United States Navy; he was stationed on the island of Munda and was honorably discharged in 1945.

On March 10, 1946, Everett was united in marriage to the love of his life, Beverly “Bobbi” Nissen in Waterloo. The couple were blessed with 5 children. He started his working career at Rath Packing in Waterloo, and later went on to work for Matt Parrott and Sons Printing Company, retiring from the printing industry after 33 years. In his later years, he started working for his son’s company, Joe Minard Construction Company, where he worked as a skilled finished carpenter, up until he was 75 years old.

In Everett’s free time, he enjoyed playing music, and in his later years, he would visit local nursing homes on Friday nights, to provide the residents with his musical talents. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding and racing motorcycles, especially with the boys in his family. He was a member of the Hammond Avenue Church of the Brethren, former member of the El Kahir Shriner’s, and was also proud of his veteran background. Everett was always happy and willing to help anyone at the drop of a hat. He lived a long and fulfilling life and the memories his family has of him will bring them peace and comfort.

Everett is survived by his children Joe (Sandy) Minard of Waterloo, Judy (Loren) Lang of Cedar Falls, Janet (Bill) Ladley of Georgia, David (Pat) Minard and Dan (Brenda) Minard, both of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Anderson of Montana. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Bev; brothers William, James, and Earl, and sister Wilma Moyer.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow services at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the family.
