Everett Dean "Bud" Smith, 99, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Pinnacle Specialty Care. He was born December 22, 1922, in Edgewood, the son of Everett C. and Myrtle E. (Kelley) Smith. He was a 1941 graduate of Edgewood High School.

Bud was united in marriage to Kathleen Primmer on November 11, 1950, in Edgewood; she preceded him in death on September 14, 2011.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Bud worked for Sun Oil Company for 30 years, retiring in 1980.

Bud was a member of Hagerman Baptist Church in Waterloo.

Left to cherish his memories include, two sons, Dwight (Lorrie) Smith of Cedar Falls, Daniel (Vicki) Smith of Varna, IL; two daughters, Susan (Curtis) Tomkins of Waterloo, Sheryl Smith of Indianapolis, IN; 9 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, his wife, Kathleen; two grandsons, Lucus and Tyler Smith; two great-granddaughters, Klarissa Tomkins and Prudence Smith; and four sisters, Mary Kathryn Schurman, Muriel Redfern, Lila Helms, and his twin sister, Emogene Debes.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, Iowa 50701, with military rites conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138, VFW Post 1623, and the Iowa National Guard Funeral Honors Detail. Visitation will be held until 6 p.m. following the Service. Private Family Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Edgewood Cemetery.
