Ethel Lucille Baer, age 92, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Friday, December 16, 2016 at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born July 9, 1924 in Bennington Township, rural Black Hawk County, the daughter of Elmer Robert Frederick and Ruth Evonna (Goff) Miller.

Ethel graduated valedictorian of the Dunkerton High School Class of 1943.

She was united in marriage with Harold Lyle Baer on June 21, 1944 in Bennington Township, Black Hawk County, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1980.

Ethel worked in the distribution department at Allen Memorial Hospital from 1974 until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Lyle (Judee) Baer of Cedar Falls and Charles Anthony “Kemo” Baer of Waterloo; three daughters, Judith Ann (Paul) DeLong of Eden, UT., Jean Marie (David) Marvitz of Waterloo and Carol Ann (Aspie) Tamboli of Houston, TX.; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Eugene Cecil Miller of Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; a daughter, Brenda Sue Taylor in 2000; a grandson, Robert Jack Baer in 1971; a brother, Earl Lester Miller in 1932; and a sister, Rose Marie Miller in 1982.
