Elsie Marie Lichty

Elsie M. Lichty, 85, of Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center, formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, died there on Sunday, May 25, 2008, of natural causes.

Elsie Marie was born on June 27, 1922, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Anton and Marie Stahl Votruba. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1940.

She married Richard L. “Abe” Lichty on June 8, 1947, in Marshalltown. He died May 27, 1986.

Elsie worked at John Deere for 31 years in the Production Department as an Expeditor, retiring in 1982.

She is survived by grandson Dan Lichty and his wife Alexandria of Waterloo, grandson Terry Lichty of Kentucky, grandson Tyson Lichty and his wife Cara of Ankeny, five great grandchildren, sister-in-law Doris Votruba of Clemmons, Iowa, and special friend and caregiver Brian Soll of Waterloo.

Elsie is preceded in death by her husband, son Richard L. Lichty II, two sisters Sadie Trout and Bess Peterson, and brother Jerry Votruba.
