Funeral services will be: 11am, Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Garden View Chapel, Waterloo.

Visitation will be an hour before the service.

Burial will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the Bristow Church of Christ summer campgrounds near Bristow and Allison.

Elizabeth A. “Beth” McCallie, 94 of Aplington, Iowa died Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation Center, Franklin, IN. She was born June 19, 1932, in rural Greenwood, Indiana, daughter of William Jennings Bryan Rhude and Lois Smith. She graduated from high school in Center Grove, Indiana in 1949. She married Donald Edward McCallie on August 14,1953, in Indianapolis. He died October 9, 2020.

Beth learned key punch operation at Switzer-Cummings Co. in Indianapolis and worked at Remington Rand in Indianapolis. When she and her husband moved with his job, she continued in keypunch working for Westinghouse. Later, Don was transferred to Waterloo where she worked at John Deere as a payroll administrator in the office, retiring after 26 years.

Beth was a member of the Bristow Church of Christ, and active in women’s groups. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 285 in Parkersburg. The family enjoyed camping and she and Don were members of the camping group, Good Sam’s Club, traveling all over Iowa in their motor home. At home she canned their homegrown vegetables and raised chickens for their eggs.

She is survived her daughter in law, Jackie McCallie of Aplington, Ia. Two sisters: Mary Louise (Larry) Whetten of Edwardsburg, MI AND Reba Lou McFarland of Indianapolis, IN.

Her grandchildren: Amy Jo Fischer of Elk Hart, IN and Jessica Lea Dietrich of Aplington and her daughters, Jordyn Truax, Myranda Truax, and Taliya Dietrich and Jennifer (Jason Gallegos) Yarbrough of Ft. Lupton, CO. and her children, Drak (Autumn) Gallegos and their son, Atreyu, and Cyrus (Sara) Gallegos. Great-great grandchildren, Zayden Truax and Vayda Smutz and her little chihuahua, Teddy. Daughter in law: Jamie McCallie of Parker, SD. Nieces: Deborah (Dale) Wemmer of Trafalgar, IN, Becky (John) Seal of Franklin, IN and Robin (David) Stier of Whiteland, IN.

Beth is preceded in death by her husband. Two sons, Earnest Lee McCallie and Eric Bryan McCallie. Her sister Daisy Juanita Duke and brother William J. Rhude.
