Edward T. McCool, 78, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at the Oak Crest Manor of natural causes.

Ed was born January 7, 1923, in Holy Cross, Iowa, son of James Frances and Emma Violet (Ernster) McCool. He graduated from high school in Bryant, South Dakota.

He married Delores Mae Turner on April 3, 1948, in St. John’s Catholic Church in Waterloo. Together, they enjoyed over fifty-three years together. Ed worked for John Deere as a machinist for forty-three years, retiring in 1985.

Ed was a member of the St. Johns Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Gilbertville American Legion Post #714, and was the President of the Holy Name Society.

He is survived by his wife: Delores; one daughter: Leah A. McCool of Dyersville; four sons: Thomas E. of Port Orchard, WA., Kevin J. of Aurora, CO., Michael P. of Dyersville and Patrick F. of Waterloo. Five grandchildren. One brother: William McCool of Waterloo and one sister: Kathryn Jeager of Houston, TX.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: James and Francis McCool and one sister Marie Joblinski.
