Dr. Terry Kent Lichty

Dr. Terry Kent Lichty, 87, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls.

He was born on September 12, 1937, in Waterloo, the son of Lynn and Elaine (Huting) Lichty. Terry honorably served in the Navy where is got his GED.

Terry worked at John Deere while attending UNI, before going to Podiatry School. Terry earned his Doctorate from Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in 1971. He practiced in Joliet, Illinois, and taught Biomechanics at the college. Terry moved back to Iowa in 1976 Iowa where he joined the practice of Northeast Iowa Podiatry.

He married Hollace (Imler) Drury on March 18, 1978, in Waterloo.

Terry was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Eagles Club, and the Amvets. He loved classic cars and spending his time golfing.

Terry is survived by his wife, Hollace; sons, Matthew (Clara) Lichty of Texas, Peter Lichty, Kevin Drury, and Chad (Kristen) Drury, all of Florida; five grandchildren, Amanda Tellez-Casey, Reegan Gran, Jacob M. Lichty, M.J. Lichty, Wilson Drury, and Samuel Drury; and four great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Keith Huting.

A memorial gathering will take place from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, October 17, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, with military rites performed at 5 pm. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa Podiatric Medical Society Scholarship Program and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
