November 28, 1931 March 1, 2019

Donna Rosalie Hodgin was born November 28, 1931, daughter of Orville and Marion Holmes Tucker. She grew up in Cedar Falls, graduating from Cedar Falls High School in 1949. Donna then attended Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) where she earned a teaching degree. She taught second grade at Orange Township Consolidated School where she met a local farmer, Lyle Hodgin. They were married June 22, 1952.

Donna and Lyle started their married life on the family farm south of Waterloo, where they raised their three children, Joy, Randy and Jeff. In 1960, the family moved to Hudson, where they lived for 40 years. Donna worked as a receptionist for the Hudson Veterinary Clinic and as a teacher’s aide and substitute teacher at Hudson Community School. In 2000, Donna and Lyle moved to Cedar Falls where they have lived in their own home ever since.

Donna loved to read, knit and crochet. She and Lyle enjoyed traveling all around the United States in their motorhome. But, her greatest joy was to be with her family. Donna was happiest when her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids would visit. She loved watching their sporting events and musical performances, and she loved cooking for them. No one ever left Donna’s home hungry.

Donna died March 1, 2019 at Sartori Memorial Hospital at the age of 87, with her family around her. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 67 years, Lyle, her children Joy (Dave) Tokheim, of Osceola, Randy (Teresa) Hodgin, and Jeff (Cindi) Hodgin all of Hudson, her grandchildren Erin (Niels) Kongshaug, Jaime (Brent) Bonner, Brandon (Emily) Hodgin, Andrea (Brandon) Kampman, Lee (Molly) Hodgin, and Sara (Michael) Hecht, and her great-grandchildren Riesa, Emilia, and Finn Kongshaug, Addison and Lillian Bonner, Brody and Alivia Hodgin, Levi and Paige Kampman, Payton, Ellie, and Stella Hodgin and Quinnlyn Hecht. Donna will also be greatly missed by many other family members and wonderful friends.
