Delbert L. Pudil, 95, of Cedar Falls, died at his home Thursday, February 8, 2024. He was born on October 27, 1928, in Waterloo, son of Harry E. and Edna A. (Lohman) Pudil. He graduated from East High School in 1947.
He married Nina Furneaux on October 15, 1950, at the Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church in Waterloo. They are members of Kimball Ave. United Methodist Church. Del served as an usher and was a member of the Fireside Group. He was a member of the Cedar Valley Garden Club. Del enjoyed model trains and railroading in his free time. He and Nina attended UNI sporting events and the Cedar Falls Municipal Band concerts for many years.
Del worked as a maintenance carpenter at the University of Northern Iowa for 25 years, retiring in 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Nina of Cedar Falls; two sons, Robert (Nancy) Pudil of La Porte City and James "Jim" Pudil of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Kay Pudil of Des Moines and Jan (Neil) Whipple of St. Charles, MO; five grandchildren: Jenifer (Douglas) Boger, Brian (Colleen) Dencklau, and Amanda, Trevor, and Blake Whipple; and two great granddaughters, Melissa and Alivia Boger.
Del is preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Christine Laws, and two sisters, Marilyn Wingert and Delores Pudil.
Funeral services will be 10:30 Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the Kimball Ave. United Methodist Church, Waterloo.
Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00pm Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Locke on 4th, 1519 West 4th St., Waterloo.
Memorials will be directed to the Kimball Ave. United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls Municipal Band or the Cedar Valley Arboretum.
