Debra Marie Hovey

Debra M. Hovey, 70, of Waterloo, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 21, 2025, under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

She was born on February 20, 1955, in Waterloo, daughter of Cleo and Dorothy Annette Bedard. Debra married Louis Hovey on September 4, 1970, in Kirksville, MO.

She and Lou owned Hart Realty where she also worked as a real estate agent until her retirement in 2020. Debra also worked as a teaching assistant at Waterloo Schools. She enjoyed spending time doing yard work, planting flowers, shopping, and bargain hunting.

Debra is survived by her husband, Lou Hovey; son, Nathan Hovey; daughter, Wendy Smith; grandchildren, Tristan Hovey, Colton Smith, Rayven Whitmore, and Chase Smith; brother, Tim (Becky) Bedard, all of Waterloo; and brother-in-law, Don Leohr of Evansdale.

She is preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Barb Leohr, Nancy Heath, and Linda Prosbilo.

Visitation and Funeral Service: Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo. Funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with burial following at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
