David Southworth, 44, of Waterloo, died at Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Saturday, August 15, 2009, of lung cancer.

David Scott Southworth was on born July 20, 1965, in Waterloo, the son of Benny and Dena Kroeze Southworth.

He married Jean Kies and they were later divorced. David attended East High School and Hawkeye Community College. He worked at a number of local machine shops. He had also served in the U.S. Army.

David is survived by his daughter Katie Lynn Southworth, parents, brother Steve Southworth and his wife Dana, all of Waterloo, brother Benny Southworth of Minneapolis, fiancée Cami Weiland of Waterloo, nieces Misty Southworth of Cedar Falls and Jordan Brooks of Waterloo, and great nephew Dakota Southworth of Cedar Falls.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents.
