Daniel M. Wagner, 72, of Evansdale, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.
He was born on January 7, 1952, in Waterloo, son of Gerald and Betty (Fawcett) Wagner. He attended Waterloo East High School and graduated from Dresden High School in Tennessee in 1970. Dan married Martha Grove on July 1, 1972, at First Wesleyan Church in Waterloo.
Dan initially worked at Waterloo Industries and later alongside his father at D & J Construction. He eventually owned and operated Dan Wagner Construction for 45 years, retiring in 2016.
He had a passion for fishing and hunting, and often spent time at their camper in DeSoto, WI. Dan enjoyed playing the bass guitar, acoustic guitar, and harmonica, and loved sharing his musical gifts with his grandchildren. He also had a love for stock car racing. In his later years, Dan and Martha enjoyed visiting many of the Caribbean Islands, embracing their love for traveling, the outdoors, and being social.
Dan is survived by his wife, Martha of Evansdale; daughters, Kami (Wesley) Todd of Cedar Falls, and Megan (Collin) Klemp of Waterloo; eight grandchildren, Jocelyn (Rob) Westerman, Kloe (Mitchell) Paeper, Jayden Freyberger, Maci Garcia, Camren Wood, Cooper Todd, Connor Klemp, and Lincoln Klemp; two great-grandchildren, Posie Westerman and Haven Paeper; two brothers, Steve (Susan) Wagner of Waterloo, and Jon (Jackie) Wagner of Cedar Falls; two brothers-in law, Michael (Pam) Grove, and Dennis (Julie) Grove; two sisters-in-law, Patricia (KC) Rausch, and Susan (Don) Dana; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Betty Wagner; and one sister-in-law, Annie Grove.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2024, Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo, with a Celebration of Life Gathering to follow until 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice. Locke at Tower Park is assisting the family, 319-233-3146.
