Curtis Gordon Hollis, 81, of Waterloo, passed away Friday, October 9, 2026, at Friendship Village. He was born on July 8, 1945, in Waterloo, the son of J. Gordon and Melva (Miller) Hollis. He graduated from Orange High School in 1963, then obtained a Bachelor of Science in Dairy Science from Iowa State University in 1967.

Curtis married Betty O. Torkelson on June 9, 1968, in Fertile, Iowa. She preceded him in death on October 3, 2022.

Curt was a dedicated family man and second-generation owner of Lanehaven Farms, Inc, with a passion for his profession. He was focused and driven, continuing an agricultural legacy of hard work, entrepreneurship, and attention to detail. He was an active community and church member, attending South Waterloo Church of the Brethren and later Prairie Lakes Church. His wisdom and energy will be greatly missed.

Curt is survived by daughter, Heidi (Mark) Zona of South Barrington, IL; son, Blake (Sally) Hollis of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Peyton Zona, Evan Zona, Reid Zona, Quinn Zona, Thatcher (Kayelee) Hollis, and Chase Hollis; two sisters, Sheryl (Charles) Snyder of New Oxford, PA and Joyce (Richard) Brandhorst of Waterloo.

Visitation: Friday, October 16, 4-7 p.m. at Locke Tower Park

Service: Saturday, October 17, 11 a.m. at Prairie Lakes Church

Private Burial: Orange Township Cemetery, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to Prairie Lakes Church or Friendship Village Foundation.
